HOLY SPIRIT TEACHINGS
The Two Become One
4 But you, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the Book until the time of the end. [Then] many shall run to and fro and search anxiously [through the Book], and knowledge [of God’s purposes as revealed by His prophets] shall be increased and become great.
This is a profound Scripture when it is revealed in the depths of the eyes of God regarding the relationship of the Church becoming one with Christ (His ultimate plan of the two becoming one). Besides the literal context of it being spoken of in Daniel about shutting up the words and sealing the Book until the time of the end as meaning to close up the full understanding of the plan of God, until the end time for it to be released through the sons of God (Rom. 8:18-23); there is more to it than being said in its depth.
The Book or the Scriptures were divinely inspired & written by the Holy Spirit through others. And, when Jesus came upon the earth to demonstrate the kingdom of God, He too was controlled & led by the Holy Spirit. So when He came, the Word (or the words of the Book) became flesh (John 1:1, John 1:14) & were fulfilled in & through Jesus Christ (the two became One in the flesh, or the Spirit & the Man Jesus became one in the flesh by love, or God; Mark 10:9; Rom. 8:38-39; Rom. 13:10). The supernatural became one with the natural. This was to demonstrate how the Spirit would eventually bring mankind in their sinful nature (flesh) to become one with God (a supernatural Being), through Jesus Christ His Son (in the Holy Spirit)—the same way as He walked. Daniel 12:4 speaks of ‘shutting up the words & sealing the Book until the time of the end.’ In greater depth, the Lord is saying here to stop speaking in just words but now seal one’s self in the flesh with the Holy Spirit (as Jesus did) & become one in Him, united with God the Father (2Tim. 2:15-26; 1Cor. 4:20; 1 Cor. 2:4; James 1:22; 1John 2:6). By ‘sealing’ you are actually bringing two things together to be joined. This is the full plan of God the Father, to join the Bride He’s chosen for His Son Jesus as similar to the Judaism wedding that is pre-arranged by the family, which in this case, the Father (Matt. 22:14; John 15:16; John 6:44). However, the union HAS to come together in pure love without blemish (in holiness) & that is achieved by coming into the fullness; that matured state in & through the leading of the Holy Spirit (1John 4:12, 1 John 4:18; Rom. 8:15; Luke 10:27).
9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
The sealed state of being in the true abiding nature in Christ is being filled with the knowledge of His will (God’s) in all spiritual wisdom & understanding (1Cor. 15:28; Philip. 3:21—as Jesus walked in God’s glory; Rom. 15:13-14). This is coming into the fullness of the kingdom & its nature (the heavenly Godly nature), how it’s run in the ways of God & eyes of God—not in the earthly ways (what is right in the heavenly ways–John 3:31-36; an example of the earthly in Peter, Matt. 16:23). Another Scripture that applies to this is:
17 [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He (the Father) may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,
18 By having the e yes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),
19 And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength,
20 Which He exerted in Christ (the Father exerted in His Son) when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand (at His own power) in the heavenly [places],
21 Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world (not only on earth now), but also in the age and the world which are to come (but forever as in heaven).
22 And He has put all things under His feet (the Father under the Son’s feet) and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church],
23 Which is His body (which is God’s people or sons that belong to Him, Lev. 26:12; Jer. 7:23; 30:22), the fullness of Him Who fills all in all (the Godhead)[for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself].
In Daniel 12:4 it states, “[Then] many shall run to & fro & search anxiously [through the Book],”this pertains to people searching the Scriptures as they did in the past when Jesus walked the earth, searching the Scriptures for life (John 5:39-40). Without the Spirit of God leading us fully, this will lead to false wisdom mixed with the worldly understanding, which Paul warned Timothy about, missing the mark or seal of faith (1Tim. 6:20-21). It’s comparable to the five unwise virgins that Jesus spoke of that were not full of oil, but were seeking the things of God outside of Himself & instead were looking elsewhere (in the world) for its existence (Matt. 25:8-10). Jesus said that the kingdom of God is within you, pertaining to those that had His Spirit to lead them to God & the knowledge of Him, as the world had nothing to offer that was of Him (Luke 17:21). Daniel 12:4 confirms the entire plan of God’s kingdom and the union between God & His people again, through Jesus Christ; but it also confirms an important part of that union according to the heart & where it needs to stand with God. Matthew 19:3-12, pulls the entire plan of God’s seal & what it means in His kingdom & how to attain it rightly in Him.
Below, I have broken down spiritually what Jesus was getting at referring in the Spirit, as to the connection in the kingdom of God & the union of His Church (of the Bride) with Him, according to God the Father’s plans (ordained from the beginning).
3 And Pharisees came to Him and put Him to the test by asking, Is it lawful and right to dismiss and repudiate and divorce one’s wife for any and [a]every cause?
*The Pharisees were speaking of literal marriage here, but there’s more in it hidden, that God is addressing in this. The Lord saw this as, “is it lawful & right to divorce one’s (Jesus’) wife (the Church) for any & every cause?” This would address it as it being alright to separate from Jesus Christ & follow God in another way.
4 He replied, Have you never read that He Who made them from the beginning made them male and female,
*Jesus was asking whether they heard from the beginning that there are two parts, which would lead into the explanation of the two becoming one in Christ, in union (or covenant), to be with God (Col. 1:16—the natural or flesh would become spirit through Jesus in the flesh & Spirit; 1Cor. 8:6; Col. 1:20). They were testing Him of the worldly things combined with the Law & He was replying with the heavenly things combined in the Holy Spirit.
5 And said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be united firmly (joined inseparably) to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?
*Jesus had to leave Israel (His spiritual mother, Gal. 4:26; Matt. 2:13; Jer. 2:2; Hos. 2:2) & His Father (from heaven to come to earth), so that He could unite to His wife (the Church) & become one with her (John 17:19-26); so They could be One with the Father (reconciled back to Him).
6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder (separate) (Rom. 8:38-39).
*Jesus was speaking of what exists already in the spirit but needed to manifest in its fullness in His people on earth as in heaven (Matt. 16:19). God the Father already had planned it (John 10:28-29). The Bride had already been given or ordained by the Father from the beginning.
7 They said to Him, Why then did Moses command [us] to give a certificate of divorce and thus to dismiss and repudiate a wife?
*Moses also spoke from the leading of the Spirit of what was to come. This command to give a certificate of divorce was basically speaking of a separation from God, not allowing one that perceives themselves as part of the Bride (wedding) to be included in the union (Matt. 22:1-14); if they are not prepared appropriately or purified in heart (Matt. 22:12).
8 He said to them, Because of the hardness (stubbornness and perversity) of your hearts Moses permitted you to dismiss and repudiate and divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been so [ordained].
*Jesus was addressing their hearts here & explaining why Moses said that. He said that to explain that you will be separated from God for hardness of heart; but referring to the old nature of man under the Law & born into sin. He was telling the Pharisees from the beginning of their origin they have been in sin in their hearts. He was admonishing them.
9 I say to you: whoever dismisses (repudiates, divorces) his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
*Jesus is addressing the disunity among His people (in the Church) here. He is saying that whoever causes disunity among each other & with Him, other than if it’s leading to being impure (unchaste), & commits to another doctrine (or false gods—commits spiritual adultery). In addition, marrying a ‘divorced woman’ refers to becoming one with someone that is an unbeliever of unequally yoked in Him (2Cor. 6:14-18; Gen. 24:3; Deut. 22:10; Ezra 9:2; 1John 1:6; Eph. 5:1-7).
10 The disciples said to Him, If the case of a man with his wife is like this, it is neither profitable nor advisable to marry.
*The disciples were able to SEE what Jesus was getting at here, but more than that, they AGREED with Him. They were agreeing with Him because they were truly His, supporting the fact that it’s not profitable to come into a covenant or a relationship with the Lord, when you’re committing spiritual adultery. As the marriage would never work; it would be null in void & not stand.
11 But He said to them, Not all men can accept this saying, but it is for those to whom [the capacity to receive] it has been given.
*Jesus warned here that not ALL men can receive what He’s offering & enter into the kingdom, unless the Father has invited them in & has given them the Wisdom & understanding to perceive His ways by the Spirit (Matt. 22:14; James 1:5; Prov. 2:1-22; Luke 14:7-9; Isa. 1:17-19).
12 For there are eunuchs who have been born incapable of marriage; and there are eunuchs who have been made so by men; and there are eunuchs who have made themselves incapable of marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let him who is able to accept this accept it.
*The three forms of eunuchs described here, show the types of people that have been separated from God. The reason that they are eunuchs is because they do not produce any good seed, which is seed from the kingdom. The first type of eunuch describes people incapable of marriage. These people would be unbelievers that choose not to believe in Jesus Christ as the only true way & choose to stay in their sinful state. The second type are ones made by men. This would include people that are influenced by men & traditions of men of the world & their ways, which are not of God. And lastly, the third covers the type of people that have chosen themselves over the kingdom. They believe in Jesus Christ but do not do all that He asks of them to do, in order to walk into holiness. They may walk in righteousness at times but won’t receive the full inheritance through Jesus & His blood that He’s offered to them (the kingdom seal; 1Cor. 9:24-27; James 1:12-27).
By covering both Daniel 12:4 with Matthew 19:3-12, you can see the entire spiritual context of what was spoken of from the past & into the present for the true purposes of God the Father, for His people, through His Son. The heart is what’s most important in bringing one into this great union He offered to us. Throughout the Scriptures you can now see how what He spoke of in the natural also brought together the spiritual plan He ordained for His glory.
