Do not repent just because you want something to go away. It doesn’t work that way. God sees the motive. Repent with a sincere heart, which means walk away from your sins and into His leading, by His Holy Spirit, in ALL things in your life; and this is NO MATTER what that may entail.
Remember, God can answer you according to your idols (Ezek. 14:4— but that’s not a good thing). He said if the iniquity of idolatry isn’t removed, He would (or will) ‘set His face against that man and make him a sign and proverb, and will cut them from His people.’ So then you would know Him…
