Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed to profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.
Judgement is coming. Cain was a murderer at heart and God revealed it when He didn’t receive his offering. It wasn’t what God wanted, according to His plan, but Cain didn’t want to accept that and took offense.
Balaam heard from God, he did give some true prophecies to speak, but again, his heart wasn’t right before God. Eventually he betrayed Israel and led them astray. Jesus warned the church of Pergamum of their sin of Balaam (Rev. 2:14). They were enticed in through idolatry and sexual immorality. Another term for ‘profit’ is to yield. God is saying, ‘they have rushed to yield to Balaam’s error.
The final part of the fall is rebellion, which led to destruction as in the sons of Korah. They went against Moses. They literally gathered 250 men to challenge Moses’ and Aaron’s priesthood (Num. 16). God had the earth swallow up the sons of Korah for what they had done.
The final say from the Lord, “Judgment to them for their wicked ways!”
