The word ‘asunder’ came up in prayer yesterday. I knew the Lord was preparing to asunder things that do not bring Him glory BUT also bring Himself glory. Asunder has many meanings, but the one that stood out was “to become parted or severed.”
The scripture that came to mind is Hebrews 4:12:
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The greatest separation of the soul from the spirit is when Christ was on the cross and He gave up the spirit. What happened at the same time? A great earthquake occurred (the earth was broken ‘asunder’), the veil of the temple torn asunder, rocks were split (or asunder), tombs were opened and saints that had fallen asleep were raised and appeared before many (Matt. 27:50-53). This form of asunder brought forth the glory of God before men. It brought forth the fear of God AND the recognition of who IS God, AND the recognition of the Son of God (Matt. 27:54).
The asunder coming will bring forth much, but especially the fear of God, the acknowledgement of God, and many will know who are the sons of God.
